Go live on Instagram

Last Updated: October 2026

Instagram does not let apps create a live for you, so you copy a Stream URL and Stream key from Live Producer on instagram.com for each broadcast. EasyStream does the rest. Use the Business or Creator account you connected.

Steps

  1. Open Stream key setupIn the mobile app, open Platforms, choose Instagram, then Stream key setup (or use the Instagram section in Stream Setup).
  2. Tap “Get key from Instagram”instagram.com opens inside EasyStream (the website, not the Instagram app). Log in if asked.
  3. Create, then Live videoAdd a title and choose the audience. Pick Practice to test: only you can see it. Tap Next. Live Producer then shows the Stream URL and Stream key.
  4. Tap “Grab key”EasyStream reads the Stream URL and key from the page and fills both boxes. You can also copy them yourself, tap Done, then “Use it”.
  5. Start streamingContinue to Stream Setup, switch Instagram on, tap Preview Stream, then Go Live. Video starts flowing to Instagram.
  6. Tap “Go live on Instagram”, then press Go liveOn the live screen, this button brings the Live Producer page back. When your camera shows in the preview, press Go live in the top-right corner of that window. Keep the page open.
  7. FinishEnd the live in Live Producer (End live video) and stop the stream in EasyStream. If Instagram freezes after you stop, end it from Live Producer.

Good to know

  • You need a professional (Business or Creator) Instagram account. Some guides say the account must be public and may need around 1,000 followers; Instagram's own requirements can change.
  • A stream key works for one broadcast and lasts about 5 hours. Copy a new one every time. The Stream URL is regional and usually stays the same.
  • Instagram lives are limited to one hour. After the preview appears you have up to 5 hours to press Go live.
  • Instagram does not offer an API to start a live from another app, which is why these steps happen on Instagram's own page.
